PARENTS - BE INVOLVED!

Parent involvement is a key element of the Reggio Emilia philosophy executed at CGL.  We take pride in encouraging continuous dialogue and collaboration between the teachers, children and parents. Through parent participation, we maintain high quality programs and stay within our budget.  When you participate in your child’s school, you foster a sense of belonging and community and your child knows that you value their educational experience. There are many ways in which we encourage parental involvement.

VOLUNTEER HOURS

Since parental involvement is such an integral part of our school community, we ask all parents to work 20 volunteer hours each school year.  Volunteer hours can be earned by participating in a variety of ways:
  • Serving on the Board of Directors
  • Donating time to spruce up the school and prepare the outdoor areas for the summer
  • Parent aiding and playground assistance
  • Substituting - parents who are qualified are welcome to be trained and work in the classrooms
  • Painting and maintenance work
  • Gardening and landscaping
  • Snow shoveling/removal
  • Chaperoning fieldtrips, including the Month of the Young Child parade
  • Working with the Board of Directors on various fund raising events such as the  CGL Art Show, Casino Night, the Fall Fun Run and the Eagle Valley Community Rummage Sale
  • Bringing nut/sugar-free snacks to your child’s classrooms
  • Purchasing snack and supplies from Costco in Gypsum with each item the equivalent of ½ hour. Parents are also awarded two (2) volunteer hours for travel time to/from Costco.
